Everett Duarte

Biography
Everett Duarte was born near the Kruger National Park in 1980.

He grew up in the African wilderness with his family and artist father Izidro Duarte, this has played a key role in the direction of his work.

After his high school years at Maritzburg Collage (KZN), he studied graphic art at DUT in Durban and fine art at the HFBK in Dresden / Germany.

Everett Duarte lives and works between South Africa and Germany.

Pushing the line between realism and abstract, Everett Duarte focuses on the emotion of an experienced encounter with an animal.

Flow and movement with the use of contrasted marks of colour, allow raw power and elegance to form each unfolding creature.

His work seems to occupy a state of constant transition and perpetual movement, intertwined into our story of existence.

He spent his childhood years in untouched wilderness, this in turn developed a love for the wild that is portrayed through his work.

He travels throughout Africa to collect reference for his paintings, with a strong focus towards the big cats of the Kalahari desert.

exhibitions For the last fifteen years Everett Duarte has exhibited his works in Europe and Southern Africa.

Among others in Zurich, Bern (Switzerland), Dresden, Munich, Potsdam, Berlin (Germany) Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town (South Africa) and Gaborone (Botswana).

He is represented by Trent Read through the Gallery at Grande Provence in Franschhoek.
